The first secret in cooking heavenly foods I would like to share with you is the secret of purification. It is to make ablution, wudu, before beginning to cook. When you cook with ablution there are countless physical and spiritual benefits. Physically, the food will be tastier to those eating it. Spiritually, when you cook with ablution, there will be powerful positive energy in the food. The energy you have in your body is transferred to the food you cook. After performing ablution you have eliminated anger from your body. Thus, the people that eat the food you cook with ablution will become peaceful and happy. Also, there are exceptional blessings in food when you cook with ablution. My mother, Hajjah Amina ﻖ never cooked without ablution and I never cook without ablution.
On the other hand, if you cook without ablution, and with anger, the food negatively affects you and whoever else you are cooking for—your husband, your children, and your guests. The energy from this food can make those who eat it feel off-balance, nervous and worried. Thus, always cook for yourself, your family, and your guests with ablution.
Similarly, cook with feelings of love and peace. If you do, then these feelings will be transferred to the people eating. Try to be in a good mood. You are cooking for people because you love them and you want them to have good energy in their body. You are not cooking because someone is forcing you.
Also, before you start cooking, say “Bismillahi ’r-Rahmani ’r-Raheem” to call on Allah (swt). While you are cooking recite salawat on our last Prophet, our beloved Sayyidina Muhammad (saw).
Our food is a blessing from our Lord, Allah (swt). For every bite of food you take to put in your mouth Allah sends over 300 angels that come and assist us to digest it. Honor the bounty that Allah (swt) blesses us with and honor the angels He sends to us by cooking with ablution and with love.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmutallahi wa barakatuhu,
Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani
